TPS652353: Maximum LNB current

Hi,

i need just a small clarification.

TPS652353 LNB regulator IC supports maximum current output of 1A.

Is there a standard which tells LNBs to limit the current requirement within this limit?

Hi Mohit,

The current limit is set by the resistor on the ISET pin. The resistor value can be determined by eq.1 under section 7.3.2 on page 10 of the datasheet. Hope this helps.

Hi,

My question is not about how to set the output current of the IC. I know that.

My question is whether 1A is enough if I use some other LNB in the future which I do not know of right now.

Right now all the LNBs that I have seen take less than 0.5A.

But my question is, as an IC designer the limit of 1A was decided by TI based on some standard which says that wideband LNBs should take less than a specified amount of current or was it arbitrary.

1A was not based on any standard/protocol, it was designed by max loading from some customers.

In their application, the max loading is about 0.6A, besides, considering thermal performance and leave some margin, so designed to 1A.
