UCC256404: UCC256404 connects to Gate_driver

Dear Expert,

I want to use GaN HEMT GS66516 with UCC256404.

GS66516 gate-to-source voltage is under7V.

And UCC256404 HB output is over 10V.

Could you please tell me how to connect UCC256404 to GS66516 to use GanHEMT at LLC.

Hi Yuki,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

For driving GanHEMTs using UCC256404, You need to have Gansystem's EZDrive circuit as below. This circuit can convert 13V to +6V and -6V.

Make sure there are anti parallel diodes connected across each Gan HEMT devices as voltage drop across Gan HEMT during dead time is very high which would increase the voltage across boot strap capacitor.

Does using a gate-drivers between Gan HEMT and UCC256404 become a problem?

Hi Yuki,

Unfortunately, It wouldn't be possible for having a external driver for Gan HEMT devices if you want to control with UCC256404.

But if use the TI Gan devices with integrated driver, it is possible to control with UCC256404.
