UCC28056: High voltage and high current power supply

Part Number: UCC28056

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to build an isolated power supply that would operate from a universal AC input and outputs at 85V/7A. He is considering flyback or LLC, however, we don't have reference designs that fit his requirements. According to our customer,

I do need an alternate for my trade study. I do like the LLC solution, and I don't see any higher power reference designs (nothing as high as 200 Watts even). Would there me an interleaved Flyback or Interleaved Forward option to look at? A bridge would be a comparison I could use although it is so close to the LLC that there's not a lot of difference in cost probably. Is there a reason that the UCC28056 is not recommended for power above 300 Watts?

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hi Danilo,

We typically see the UCC28056 used in sub-300-W designs. I did find a reference design with our LLC. The PMP40766 seems to be very close to what your customer is looking to achieve. Do you think this is a good starting point?

Let me know what you think.
