TPS61253: Schematics TPS61253YFRR

Part Number: TPS61253

Hello there,

I am using the step-up TPS61253YFFR with a fixed 5V output voltage.

Could you please give me a review regarding my schematics?
Above all, I'm not sure whether I can leave the BP pin like that or whether it has to be connected to ground.

Best regards!

  • Hi

    Thanks for reaching out. Could you please see my comments below?

    1.You should connect all pins together which is under same net, i.e. VOUT, SW and GND;

    2.You must terminate BP pin in right way, per datasheet descripted

    3.Please check C310's effective capacitance is over 3.5uF at 5V bias.

  • Hi Wenhao,

    oh I think I missed the line to the second VOUT, thanks for pointing this out.

    2. I looked at Table 2 in the data sheet. Since my enable pin is set to HIGH (= 1), I would have to connect BP to ground and thus set the pin to LOW (= 0). The step-up should then be in Boost Operating Mode and generate the desired voltage of 5V from my input voltage of 3.3V. Is that correct?

    3. I use the GRM188R60J106ME84D as a capacitor for C310. This is suggested in the data sheet for C (out), that should normally fit, right?

    [WW]Yes. Please pull the BP low if you do not need this standby funtion.

    [WW]Yes I think it is fine, but one thing noted is datasheet recommendation is just for typical. You still need to think about if external components meet your requirement. Like if you have 125C temp condition, you may need to consider X7R rate caps.
