TPS2399: Old Date Code

Part Number: TPS2399

Hi Team,

We have received the TPS2399DGKR -TI part from one of our distributors.
It is an old date code part, Manf date: 2015, 27th week (MSL-2 part).

Can we use this part in our assembly or not? Also, please suggest if any special baking process do we need to follow if we chose to use the part?

Hi Arijeet,

It is difficult for us to simply say a “Yes” or “No” for these 6 years old date parts, as it is not shipped out from TI, it is highly related to the storage conditions in the past.

The product shelf life for semiconductor products after delivery to a customer is based on factors such as the type of materials used in the device, manufacturing conditions, moisture sensitivity level (MSL), the use of moisture barrier bags (MBBs) in product packaging, the amount of desiccant used and the customer’s storage conditions.

Anyway, customer can make the decision whether they want to use these parts or not, they can take care of below items.
1. To check the vacuum packing/MBB situation.
2. Any anomaly in HIC (humidity indicator card).
3. Customer can perform baking if any anomaly in HIC.

Hi Arijeet,

There is no special baking process in this product, just need to follow Jedec criteria for MSL 2 semiconductor product. Meanwhile, the customer also should pay attention to the pin condition, like whether there is any corrosion or not on the pins. If it is yes, we absolutely do not recommend the customer to use it.
