TPS5405: reason of fsw ROSC=GND 70KHz delete

Part Number: TPS5405
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS5402

Hi sir,

The customer wants to know why ROSC = GND typ.70khz of FSW of oscillator in the electrical characteristics table on page 5 is deleted when datasheet is updated from  revA to revB.

www.ti.com/.../tps5405.pdf url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.ti.com%252Fproduct%252FTPS5405%253FkeyMatch%253DTPS5405%2526tisearch%253Dsearch-everything%2526usecase%253DGPN

datasheet revA

datasheet revB

Background:

As a ROSC = 0ohm circuit design, it is used in our products.
Recently, defective products have occurred in the part of using TPS5405, and several cases have been solved after replacing the IC.
Therefore, it is found that the item with ROSC = 0ohm is deleted when rereading the latest datasheet,
I think this item is deleted for some reason, but if the constant setting of ROSC = 0ohm is not recommended,
so I want to know the status.
For that reason, please let me know if I need to revise the design.

Thanks for your confirmation in advance.

Regards,

  • Hi Frank,

I tried a lot to find more details about this change.

    1.  On pg5, this ROSC = GND typ.70khz of FSW is still here.

    2. Other parts from this same family ,TPS5402/3 still have this item in EC table .

And I tried to find more information on PCN and other internal resourse , but failed. Not sure why this is deleted .But from the DS description and other family parts DS .

This 70Khz still work when ROSC = GND.

    BRs,
