LMR12015: Minimum load current

Part Number: LMR12015

Hi All,

I have a question about LMR12015.

Although it is a 12V output, the output will be 3V because there is no load.
Minimum load current is required from "7.3.3 High Output Voltage Considerations".

If you continue to output 3V with no load, Is there any damage to the IC in this state?

Best Regards,
Ishiwata

  • Hi Ishiwata,

From the Figure 24, if your input voltage is 12V, no min output current required. You may add a small 0603 resistor placeholder in case. If you continue to 3V output with no load,

there is no damage to IC. But it will be risky no output due to high side FET could not turn on.

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks,

    Nancy
