    Hello,

    Since this is a controller there really isn't a limit.  The TPS92518 gate drive can limit the size of the MOSFET used depending on switching frequency.

    What current are you trying to design for?  What is Vin, Vled and the desired maximum switching frequency?

    Also at higher current thermal design will need to be taken into account such as MOSFET, freewheel diode and inductor power dissipation.

    There is no reference design for 5A output current.  This part is generally used at lower current for Matrix applications though it can be used in a variety of applications.
