LP38693-ADJ: Resistor network in TIDA-00526

Part Number: LP38693-ADJ

The design from "Using LDO for LED Control and Brightness Matching" adds resistor divider R1 and R2 to increase the voltage across R3 to 2V.  What is the advantage of this, compared to simply connecting ADJ to R3 and designing for a 1.25V drop across R3?

  • Hi David,

There is not a direct problem with tying the R3 resistor directly to the adjust pin. I believe the author of this app note just copied recommended operating conditions directly from the datasheet. There is no real advantage specifically for the application other than possibly more leeway on resistor sizing if pushing any higher currents through the LEDs.
