Hi team,
customer want to qualified our TPS548B28 by the below test spec
Vin=12V
vout=5V
Iout=20A
Duration 4 hours
However the datasheet show the room temperature seems close to the limit without any air flow.
would you provide any related test material for our reference?
Regards,
Fred
Here is the test method for gathering the SOA data https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva766/slva766.pdf
The TPS548B28 was optimized for the lower output voltages at full load. For 12V to 5V at 20A, use https://webench.ti.com/power-designer/switching-regulator/select
to select a suitable solution for the 20A 5V load.
Hi David,
I will study your first link,
however, somehow I can't get any info regarding TPS548B28 in your second link, I know you try to show me the optimized BOM to have better thermal relaibility or something.
Would give me a screenshot or detail in context?
Regards,
Fred
What ambient temperature are you designing for. The data was gathered on an EVM and is an optimized layout. Airflow is a method to improve.
Use webench, with the 12V to 5V at 20A at the max ambient. The TPS548B28 may not be an optimal solution for your application and webench can find appropriate solution.
Below is my customer spec:
Temp_Amb= 70 deg C
Max junction/board temp =110 deg C
150 LFM airflow
although, we don't have air flow equipment, do you know what kind of component can achieve this ?
