ISO5851-Q1: Not connected pin

Part Number: ISO5851-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO5851

Good Morning,

We use the ISO5851-Q1 device on our electronic board. Can you say me if the not connected pin (pin 4 : NC) is connected internally in the device ? Can I connected this pin to a signal, power supply or GND ?

Thank you

Best regards

    Hi Guillaume,

The NC pin in ISO5851 is not connected internally. It is perfectly fine to float this pin or connect to ground.

  • Hi Dimitri,

To be sure, we want connected the NC pin to the gate mosfet by the R25 resistor like on the schema below (not to GND). Is-it OK for you ?

Indeed, currently, we have big problem to supply the ISO5851-Q1. We want integrate an alternative of the ISO5851 which integrate a OUTH/OUTL pin.

    Thank you

That shouldn't be a problem, though I would suggest to minimize the resulting antennae by place R25 andR24 both close to the gate.

. I assume that R25 is Not Stuffed / not populated when using ISO5851

Yes its hard with the supply shortages! This will be a good solution to support an entire family. ISO545x can also work as an alternative if the isolation rating is sufficient for your application.

  • Hi Dimitri,

In fact, we want integrate R25 with ISO5851. Indeed, the aim is to minimize our folder. With R25 integrated, the other device like ISO5852 or other will be only a second source of ISO5851. If we should populate or not the R25 according to the gate driver device, we should manage 2 electronic boards folder.

    Is-it possible to integrate R25 resistor with ISO5851 ?

    Thank you

That should pose no issue. Its ok to do that if it simplifies the board assembly for you.
