BQ79656-Q1: BQ79656 Master interface & Ring architecture

Part Number: BQ79656-Q1

I am working on BMS application using BQ79656 ICs. I want to connect multiple BQ79656 Ics through Ring architecture.

As per datasheet, for ring architecture Base BQ79656 Ic will be interfaced with  BQ79600 Ic. Low channel of ISO SPI of BQ79600 Ic  will be connected to high channel of ISO SPI  of highest number of BQ79656 IC. Please see below image. But BQ79600 IC is not available any where. Can you suggest some alternative ICs ?

Also can we connect low ISO channel of base BQ79656 with high ISO channel of highest number of BQ7956 IC to complete ring architecture. Base BQ79656 IC will interface with MCU through Isolated UART. Is it possible ? I attached block diagram of this architecture.

  • Hello Akshay,

There are no replacement parts for BQ79600.

Yes, it is possible to use a BQ79656 as a base device and as a stack device. I believe it will work in your application, however please note that there are a few features that aren't supported in this configuration such as reverse-wakeup.
