TPS92200: IR LED Driver

Hello, we are planning on choosing an IR LED driver from TI with the following specs:

VIN = 5V
Iout >= 700mA
External control - I2C, PWM

Application:
Drive 1-2 series IR Leds (LED PN to be confirmed) while being able to fully control the brightness
Minimizing output flicker is important

We have come up with the following list
TPS92200
TPS54200 / TPS54201

1. Does TI have any recommendations based on the above? We care about efficiency / thermals, cost, and solution size

Hi Daniel,

TPS92200 is the best choice. Comparing to TPS54200, TPS92200 has higher switching frequency and lower FB voltage, which will improve the system efficiency.

In addition, they have same package but not P2P.

Hi Yuting,

A couple of notes:
- would you recommend analog or digital dimming for a nightvision camera running at 30-60 fps
- both drivers have a feedback voltage of 100 mV in digital PWM mode
- why would a higher fsw result in higher efficiency? Is it not the opposite?

Does nightversion camera have any special requirements comparing to normal camera?

No specific requirements.
