TPS272C45: Vdd-pin behaviour A-/B-/C-variant

Part Number: TPS272C45

Hi,

I got some PTPS272C45ARHFR for testing.

The A-variant should need a low voltage source at the Vdd-pin for proper function. As the datasheet (p. 28) describes, the device (A/B/C-versions) should switch to Vs as supply, but as described in the datasheet (p. 3) the A-version doesn´t have an internal voltage regulator.

I tested the PTPS272C45ARHFR with gnd/3.3V/floating on its Vdd-pin, i always was capable of enabling the outputs. I thought the A-variant needs the external low voltage supply for enabling the outputs (and can´t enable them if Vdd-pin has no supply).

Is there a misunderstanding or is the prototype-variant PTPS272C45A working with all possible supplies for testing purposes and the final A-Variant can´t work without supply on Vdd-pin?

With kind regards

Marc Nestler
