UCC28951-Q1: PSFB controllers UCC28951-Q1 vs UCC2895-EP PWM controller vs secondary side controller

Part Number: UCC28951-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC2895-EP, UCC2895

Hello,

I would like to find out about differences and advantages of two distinct TI controllers . One is Primary side UCC2895 with opto, and the another is the UCC2895-EP secondary Side controller for PSFB topology. Any insight is appreciated!

Thanks,

Connor

  • Hello,

Opto is required for primary side operation and galvanic isolation.  If you don't need Galvanic isolation then it is ideal not use opto feedback.

Opto isolators always present a reliability issue and some customer prefer not to use them and control the FSFB on the secondary side of the controller.
