BQ40Z80: BQ40Z80 short-circuit damage MOS

Part Number: BQ40Z80

BQ40Z80 short-circuit damage MOS problem in the case of relatively large short-circuit current.

  • Hello,

Can you clarify if you would like some assistance with any of the issues you're seeing? The BQ40Z80 may have issues with large gate capacitance FETs or multiple FETs in parallel that can cause slow turn off/on which leads to FET damage. If that's the case you should use an external more powerful driver.

You can also adjust the speed and voltage level on the sense resistor for the hardware based short circuit protections, so you can disable the FETs at an earlier short circuit current.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
