Hello,
My customer is testing TLV62084A and they have a 10uF capacitor on the input as recommended, but are wondering if this value can be reduced. They are seeing some in-rush current that is higher than they would like, and reducing this input capacitance shows a reduction in that in-rush current. Can a lower Cin be used without causing this device to go unstable or out of regulation?
Vin = 2.7 to 5.5V
Vout = 1.85V
Iout = <1mA in idle, and <30mA average in run mode
Thanks,
Michael
Hello Michael,
Decrease of input capacitance to reduce the inrush current might come at the cost of instability in input voltage (higher Vin overshoot) that can result in exceed of Vin over the absolute max. rating.
So it is not recommended to do so.
