We just saw this query regarding TPSM5D1806 about part failure. We are also using this part in many boards which is in the design phase.

We would like to know more details about this query regarding failure and any other additional points to be taken care in the design to avoid such failures.

We would like to send our schematics and layout for review.

The query is the only information I have. The pcb layout was non ideal, the input capacitors were not placed very well, the layout is shown in the post.

I would review the pcb layout example in the datasheet section 10 and the evm user guide.

Hi David,

How should we do the PGND to AGND connection? From the Evaluation Module gerber what we understood is, it is connected to the central thermal pad on the Bottom layer?

Is that how it should be connected or should we make the connection using a zero ohm resistor away from all this circuitry?

Please help.

Hi Rasif,

the AGND and PGND needs to be connected at a single point. In the EVM for example is connected to the bottom layer thru couple VIAS. The Bottom layer is PGND. see below
