LP2985: [LP2985-33DBVR] Inquiries about Iout_max and Overcurrent Protection operation

Part Number: LP2985

Hi, TI Support Team

Please confirm the following inquiries.

Please inquire because it is not listed in the datasheet.

1. What is the limit current?

2. How does Overcurrent Protection work?

3. I am using LP2985-33DBVR and Iout=150mA. Is this likely to be a problem?

4. On the datasheet, continuous output current=150mA is indicated. Regarding question 3, what problems can occur with the LP2985 product?

Thanks.

Regards,

MJ

  • Hello Jeon,

This device has current limit protection designed into the part and it typically equals 400mA (provided as short circuit current spec in the datasheet). The current limit appears to have 'Brick wall' type characteristic. This device is rated for an output current of 150mA and the device should function just fine as long as its junction temperature does not exceed 125ºC. Thanks!

    Regards,

    Srikanth
