Dear TI team,

Request you to please share design file/Gerbers of TPS65185EVM for reference.

Secondly, I want to know if it is possible to connect two TPS65185 IC in parallel to increase the output current in the circuit. As TPS651851 is currently not available, I am trying to find alternate way.

The TPS651851 offers higher currents on the LDOs and charge pumps.

Which are you trying to connect in parallel?
What is your required output current(s)?

We are connecting EPD and required current is approx 150mA-160mA.

TPS will provide supply to e-paper display.

Maybe I did not understand your question properly.

Hi Vinnie,

The TPS65185 has 4 regulator outputs for driving the e-paper display - 2 charge pumps and 2 LDOs. Based on the 150-160 mA requirement I assume the LDOs will be used to supply these rails. Is that correct?

Hi Gerard,

That's right. See below.

1. LDO1 (15V): ~150mA

2. LDO2 (-15V): ~90mA

3. CP1 (27V): 6.6mA

4. CP2 (-20V): 6.6mA

and IDD requirement at 3.3V Vdd is 4.2mA.

For TPS65185, LDO1 is rated to supply current upto 120mA. Hence, need help to increase current capacity of LDO1.

Thanks for providing the additional details.

Since the LDOs on this device do not have an accessible FB pin, the only way to potentially parallel two LDO1 outputs is to use ballast resistors. This reference design shows an example with a different LDO: https://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-01232

Please note the TPS65185 has not been tested or characterized for use in this kind of application. There is no guarantee the resulting performance will match the datasheet parameters. As such TI's recommendation to achieve the required 150 mA would be the usage of the TPS651851 device.

If this is not possible due to material availability, you are welcome to evaluate the parallel output approach with EVMs connected in parallel and discrete ballast resistors. Validate the performance across your application's expected range of operating conditions (Vin, Iout, ambient temperature, load transients, etc).
