TPS23756: ASking for the MOS spec review

Part Number: TPS23756

Hi team,

Cusotmer design TPS23756PWPR  for 54V to 12V application.

Customer would llike to evaluate the 2nd MOS source.

Would you please review the 2nd MOS spec and provide comment?

change from 357MN763100000000D to 357G763N10022900HF.

Here is schematic and MOS spec link.

  • Hello,

I would not recommend either since the Vds is not 150V.

Otherwise the transition is fine. the second FET has a lower current rating but is more efficient and faster. The higher current rating is not needed so it's fine. But I strongly suggest a 150V FET.

  • Hi Michael,

Customer feedback that TI's EVM Vds is 100V. would you please kindly let me know why we recommend 150Vds here?

cusotmer also provide alternative MOS, would you please help check it is ok or not? Thanks for help!

  • Hello,

150V VDS rating gives more margin for overvoltage. The estimated nominal voltage max is ~65V. This does not account for overshoot. If we add 15V for overshoot, that is already 80V. So it depends on how much margin the customer wants to have. Product line always suggests 150V because we never see issue at this voltage.

If the customer wants to choose something lower that is their choice.

Otherwise the transition is fine. the second FET has a lower current rating but is more efficient and faster. The higher current rating is not needed so it's fine.
