UCC28070: ucc28070

Part Number: UCC28070
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28065,

Got data sheet of UCC28065

Now I am designing LFP battery charger of 1650 watt(30A/54.8V).

After this, I want to design 350 watt and 3500 watt charger.

Perhaps, PFC will not be required for 350w charger.

Which PFC (UCC28070 or UCC28065) is suitable for 1650 watt and 3500w charger ?

  • Hello Chandran,

Thanks for your interest and post. Both of these choices are interleaved which is beneficial for cancelling ripple currents, sizing,  and thermal management.

The UCC28070 should be better suited for 1650 W and 3.5 kW than UCC28065.

This is because the UCC28070 uses continuous conduction mode (CCM) control.

With CCM, it's possible to have smaller peak and ripple currents which reduces conduction losses and potentially simplifies EMI filter design.

However, It's important to note that CCM does not change the state of the switch at zero current so it can have higher switching losses compared to transition mode (TM) control.
