UCC29950: UCC29950 comparison with PMP40580

Part Number: UCC29950
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC256404, UCC28056, PMP40580,

Hi team,

we have a monitor that around 200~300W,

I saw reference design PMP40580 (UCC28056+UCC256404),

and I also saw UCC29950 the integrated solution,

but wonder what' the pros & cons between PMP40580 and UCC29950 for my design

  • Hi Fred,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

UCC28056 is transition mode PFC controller whereas UCC29950 uses CCM PFC control

UCC256404 is current mode controller for LLC whereas UCC29950 uses voltage mode control for LLC. Since UCC25640x is a current mode controller it has a good transient response. It also has many other features, like adaptive dead time, x-cap discharge, ZCS protection etc.

Since the power rating is 300W, you can use UCC28056 + UCC25640x which are our latest generation controllers

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Regards
