BQ27742EVM: BQ27742-G1

Part Number: BQ27742EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCCHEM, EV2400

Hi,

I'm currently working on bq27742 fuel gauge. It is having default design capacity-1000mAh, design voltage-3.8v stored in flash. My battery spec is 4.2v,2150mAh.

1. Can you tell me, what all the parameters I need to change, if I change these two parameters.

2. If I make SLEEP bit as 0 in register and SHUTDOWN command not used, is there any way to make PMIC enter low current state.

Thank in advance,

Kavya.

  • Hello Kavya,

This gauge has many settings and it will depend on your application what needs to be changed.

    The most common are:

    • the charge taper ranges so the gauge knows when the battery is fully charged.
    • Chg/Dsg current thresholds so the gauge knows when you have left relaxation or low power states for the application
    • Calibration of voltage, current, and temperature.
    • The chemistry ID (requirement for gauging accuracy) can be found with GPCCHEM tool, must have EV2400 to upload

There is no way for the gauge to enter lower power states if you disable sleep. You can see this in section 2.7 Power Modes of the TRM in the flow chart.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
