EV2300 download doesn't install on Win7 64bit.

Previous threads supporting this have been locked.

I need for using BQ34Z100EVM.

I really don't want to have to buy EV2400 when my EV2300 is nearly unused.

Anyone find a way to install EV2300 on Win7 64bit?

Hello Rom,

The EV2300 may not work on 64 bit Windows. This is a known issue. The EV2300 design would need to be changed to fix this issue. The components to build the EV2300 are obsolete, therefore TI is unable to make the necessary changes and instead replaced it with EV2400. Check the following threads for suggestions. Hopefully one of the suggestions work.

Hello Shirish,

Thank you for your suggestions to no avail, even on Win7 32bit.

It appears that EV2300 is no longer supported for Win7 and would be prudent to post compatibility errata for the BQ34Z100EVM users guide (SLUU904B).

Before I consider purchasing EV2400 I like to confirm driver availability.

Where can I find them?

Hello Rom,

The original 32-bit windows drivers for EV2300 are at http://www.ti.com/litv/zip/slec003a

According to this thread, the 64-bit drivers work on 32 bit https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/186850/ev2300-windows-7-32bit-installation-problem

Try both before you give up and purchase an EV2400.

The EV2400 uses HID drivers that are inbuilt in Windows, so you will not need to install external drivers for EV2400.

Thank you for the prompt reply.

The original 32-bit windows drivers installed successfully on my 32 bit Win7 platform when the EV2300 connected.

On starting bqStudio, a Target Selection Wizard appears showing Auto Detected Device: 0100_0_6 .

I have the EV2300 connected via USB with the BQ34Z100EVM connected to the EV2300 via I2C. The BQ34Z100EVM is set-up with a single Li-ion cell attached.

I selected the Gauge device type in the list and followed with selection of 0100_0_16-bq34z100G1.bqz for the target.

Then a "Proceed?" pop up warns that the detected device is not compatible and proceeding may lead to an unrecoverable state.

I get the same dead end with my Vista platform.

Any suggestions?

Hello Rom,

That is good news. This means that the EV2300 is now recognized by Windows.

The firmware on the BQ34z100EVM is old. You should upgrade it to bq34z100-G1 Device Firmware

Use the "Programming" tab of bqStudio to program the firmware. After that bqStudio should automatically detect it.

I haven't progressed past the "Proceed?" warning from the Target Selection Wizard evoked on bqStudio startup.

Do you suggest proceeding past the warning regarding permanent communication loss?

If so, should I disconnect the EV2300 first to protect it?

Click on "Proceed" and go straight to the "Programming" tab. After upgrading firmware, restart bqStudio and you should not see the warning anymore.

I'm in the bqStudio (1.3.101) now. I don't see a Firmware tab in the toolbar. Is it called something else. I see a FW_Version button in the Commands sidebar.

Got the programming file selected.

Do I select "Program" or "Execute FW"?

I programmed and then executed.

Seems to work.

No error on restart.

Note the sluc580 firmware file downloaded without zip extension.

There should be a “This Resolved My Issue” next to the last 2 responses or you should have received an email that has a link to the “This Resolved My Issue” button.
