Hi Team,

Could UCC21530-Q1 operate as 100% duty cycle? 

  • Will both high side and low side need to support 100% duty cycle?
    • Could you give more details this 100% duty cycle operation?
  • Will both high side and low side have its own isolated bias supply?
  • Is there any way to use single bias supply to support 100% duty cycle?

    Hi Joey,

    Yes, UCC21530-Q1 and our other isolated dual-channel drivers can support 100% duty cycle operation when separate bias supplies are used. For example, the configuration in Figure 9-2 in the datasheet can support 100% duty cycle since it uses one power supply for each channel. Bootstrap configurations with only a single power supply cannot support this.

    The device datasheet shares a few different configurations for the output side. This training video also outlines these options and discusses the trade-offs, numbers of power supplies required, and duty cycle limitations.
