My customer looking for N+1 and ORing power rail controller devices.
Their requirements are as following two cases.

#1
V=-48V(typ)/-65V(min)
I=>10A
Hot swap, OCP and EN support

#2
V=+12V(typ)
I=>35A
Hot swap, OCP and EN support

Does TI have any recommended devices?

Hello,

I would recommend putting in your requirements into WEBENCH to have that point you in the right direction. If a device does come up that matches your requirements, Can post a question using that part number to be connected to the right team

I am not familiar with a N+1 and ORing power rail controller.
What kind of requirements should I put into WEBENCH to look for a N+1 and ORing power rail controller?

Adam,

LM74700-Q1 can be used for N+1 oring configuration or just only for 2 oring?
Can it be used for negative power rail like -48V?
Does it support hotswap?

Does TPS2419 support hotswap?

Hi Hirano,

LM74700-Q1 cannot be used for ORing on -48V rail.

LM5051 is the right device to be used on negative voltage rails for N+1 ORing application.

My customer has some more questions as follows.
In case of using LM5051s as N+1 Oring, can the LM5051s balance each path current somehow?

How about TPS2419 or TPS2413?
My customer is also considering TPS2419 or TPS2413 for low voltage input N+1 Oring.
Can TPS2419s or TPS2413s balance each path current somehow?

Hi Hirano,

Our ORing controllers are not capable of balancing load in each path.

LM5051 can be used for negative voltage rail ORIng application while TPS241x devices can be used for ORIng of positive low voltage rails.
