TPS272C45: Can Load current diagnostic pin - SNS, be tied together among several devices so we can use a single ADC for current measurement?

Hello,

I would like to save ADCs and would like to connecto more than on TPS272C45 SNS pin (over resistor, diode...) to same sensing resitor.

Is it possible?

Hi Miroslav,

This is only possible if you multiplex the diagnostic enable pins of the devices used. It is possible to share the SNS network but only one device should only output SNS current to the SNS network at a given time. As such some sort of control needs to be implemented that turns off the DIAG_EN of all other devices and only turns on the DIAG_EN of one device.

Hi Miroslav,

The SNS pin is a current source. It is possible to use a diode on the output of the SNS pin of each device to protect against any possibility of back flow of current. It is also possible to connect them directly.
