TPS25200-Q1: FMD Inquiry

Part Number: TPS25200-Q1

Hi Team,

My customer is looking to use our TPS25200-Q1 as protection for an off-board load, and would like to understand if any of the failure modes in our FMD report could result in a loss of the overvoltage clamp protection. One that concerns us is "Vout stuck on", I assume this would result in failure to protect from an overvoltage condition?

Regards,

Andy

  • Hi Andy,

I will check and get back on this.

  • Hi Andy,

The failure mode distribution estimation for comes from the combination of common
failure modes listed in standards such as IEC 61508 and ISO 26262, the ratio of sub-circuit function size and
complexity and from best engineering judgment.  So they are random and when we say that VOUT stuck on FMD is 5% that does not out of 100 times 5 would be VOUT stuck on.

Also I agree that if failure mode is VOUT stuck on then overvoltage may not be clamped at output.
