BQ76952EVM: Removing FUSE and BQ7718 redundant protection

Part Number: BQ76952EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ7718

Hello TI forum!
My name's Pedro and I'm currently developing my own board using this chip.
I noticed the EVM uses a secondary protection system composed by the BQ7718 overvoltage protection and a simulated fuse to blow.
My question is how necessary these protections are.
Given the permanent fault of the bms can just disable the CHGFET and DCHGFET I don't see the point of the fuse and the BQ7718 other than redundancy.
Am I correct with this assumption?
Am I missing another functionality?
What is your recommendation?
Thank you very much in advance!
Pedro
