Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2576, LM22676, LM2676
Not being a SMPS designer and realizing this deficit in my abilities, I have a need for two power supplies.
Vin is 12V with two outputs for +5.5V (2A), -5.5V (<-1A).
Both 5.5V supplies go to their respective LDOs for more cleanup (I have that part of the design already spoken for).
I would like to use the same IC for both, one being a buck and the other an inverting buck boost. I would like something that has proven layouts, perhaps lower noise devices. If that aspect is not available then relevant filtering could be applied to quiet things down. I would not have a problem using older parts like the LM2576 but maybe there is something a little better or lower noise. Also, part availability is a concern so older parts are ok in this respect. The LM2576 is easy to get. I do have a little board space here so it does not need to be super compact. Downside with something like the LM2576 is that in IBB configuration the output capacitance is quite high but if it works this is not a problem (a design detail for this switcher). In the end, I just would like to see options for parts that are easy to get and proven layouts. Need a first pass strategy here.
