LM62460-Q1: LM62460-Q1: simulation problems

Part Number: LM62460-Q1

Good morning,

i have tried to do a simulation with webench of the power supply LM624606-Q1, with these parameters:

  • vin: 16V-28V;
  • vout: 12V;
  • iout 6A.

Webench doesn't allow me to do this simulation, it tells me "Design cannot be created!"

The simulation work fine only if I set: vout 12V, iout 1A.

Why I have problems with 6A? The device can work at 6A..
Can you suggest me something?

Thanks in advance,
Diego.

  • Hi Diego,

    Based on simulation, it looks like the reason you are not able to simulate your application condition is because at 28Vin|12Vout|6A|2.2MHz the device will have a IC junction temperature that exceeds 150degC.

    You can simulate with input voltage range of 16V - 23V and notice that for 23Vin|12Vout|6A|2.2MHz, the simulated IC Tj is 145.74degC

    In order to improve efficiency and thermal performance, I would suggest dropping the switching frequency lower to reduce IC switching losses.

    Regards,
    Jimmy
