TPS61230A: Can this boost converter have an output of 5V and 3A?

Hi,

I was wondering if TPS61230A can provide an output current of 3A with 5V? The description says up to 2.4A but the TI weebench has a simulation to where it can output 3A at 5V.

Hi Andy,

During your Webench, device working as an ideal one and under 25℃ internal.

but it will be some different with your actual conditions. OTP may triggered and you will get a lower vally current limit. anyway, the performance is depend on your system. if you can keep the Ta at 25℃, I think that should be fine.

anyway, i think it is not a good idea to use the device out of it's spec.

Are there any step up converters that you recommend? Voltage input will be around 3.7-3.9 coming from a single cell LIPO battery with 6000mAh. I'd like to output 5V and 3A.
