UCC28780EVM-002: Modifying UCC28780EVM-002 by dropping output voltage from 20V to 10V, and eventually 5V.

Part Number: UCC28780EVM-002
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28780

Hi Experts,

Good day.

I need your help. Our customer currently has a UCC28780EVM-002, and they are trying to modify it to their liking, specifically dropping the output voltage from 20 V to 10 V, then eventually 5 V in the future.
Is this related to the REF pin as well as the FB pin? What exactly has to happen on the board in order for them to successfully drop the voltage to their liking? They are conducting research on this board and would like some help. Thanks.

Keep safe.

Regards,

Josel

  • Hi Josel,

Thank you for the query on UCC28780.

Sorry for the delay in reply as e2e was on maintainance over the last week. Modifying the EVM for output voltage of 10V with the same 45W power is going to require a host of changes right from transformer mag. inductance, sense resistor, Vs pin resistive divider network and FB pin compensation network. Can you please use the excel calculator for UCC28780 to start with and let us know if they are designing for the full 45W at lower voltage levels?

    Regards,

    Harish
