TPS54360B: Output Short Circuit Protection

Hi Team,

My customer plans to do short-circuit test on TPS54360B, and I am wondering the short-circuit protection scheme of TPS54360B.

According to the datasheet, the frequency foldback scheme can help inductor current to ramp down in a longer OFF time during short-circuit events.

If the output current successfully drops below current limit threshold in the previous OFF time, does it mean that TPS54360B will reset the soft start timer and retry to turn on the high side switch to further build up the output in the following switching cycles?

Please kindly correct me if my understanding is wrong, thanks.

    Hi Charles,

    The TPS54260B will initiate soft start sequence once the short circuit is removed from the output. If the short is present at the output, the part will continue to provide the maximum current to the load until the short is removed.
