TPS53321: SYNC Pin Connections

Part Number: TPS53321
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62867, TPSM82866A

Hi,

What should be the connections with SYNC pin when I want to use only one regulator (TPS53321). Means there is any Slave or other regulator to receive that synchronization signal (SYNC).

Thank You

Raj Kumar

  • Hello Raj,

I am working on your question and will provide a response by end of the week at latest.

  • Hello Raj,

Excuse me for the delay in my response. Unfortunately we did not have any PCB to test this device. I decided to implement a self-made board to check the behavior of the SYNC pin for your request. I implemented the circuit below:

I noticed no difference in Iq or Vout shape with SYNC connected to GND or floating.

Why would you like to use this rather old device in your desing?

I would recommend moving forward to use of the TPS62867 or the related module TPSM82866A. They both have higher efficiency, are smaller and are easier to implement with less parts in the BOM count.

    Best regards
