TPS5450: Minimum Value of Boot Cap

Part Number: TPS5450

Dear Specialists,

My customer is considering changing the boot cap and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

According to the datasheet P15 8.2.2.7 Boot Capacitor, it states that the boot capacitor should be 0.01μF.

Capacitance is reduced by DC bias depending on the size of the capacitor.

We are considering replacing the current capacitor with another small capacitor in terms of availability.

The capacitor currently in use is 0.01μF and the DC bias is -6% (=9.4nF) when 24V is applied.

The selected replacement candidate has a DC bias of -30% (=7nF) when 24V is applied, is this usable?

Please let us know the allowable range of boot capacitor capacity for IC operation, especially about the minimum value.

---

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi
