BQ24032A: Transient Regulation

Part Number: BQ24032A

Hi team,

Customer is using BQ24032A to power a processor board.

When working with the AC mains without battery, they see the following misfunction:

When the system starts up in some boards, they see a glitch in the power supply, which causes some computers to crash randomly.

They don't see any voltage drop except in the start-up transient of the remaining 3 cores (the RAM is already running and the rest of the circuit too), their system must be more or less 4.2V / 2A.

We believe that it is due to the fact that this chip is too small for the consumption of the computer. What is the current limit of BQ24032A on AC power?

Do you see any potential errors that may be causing this?

Thanks and best regards,

Juan.

  • Hi Juan,

Do you have a schematic that can be shared? I don't believe there is a current limit option on this device and so it should be operated within the recommended conditions (2A output).

Are there waveforms of the output voltage when the start-up transient occurs that can be shared of this?

    Best Regards,

    Anthony Pham
