BQ24171: Fault happens while charging

Hi teams,

My customer has been using BQ24171 on his board. ON/OFF repeat on STAT pin (9 pin) was found while he charges the battery through the adapter.

Do you understand the cause of this fault?

Could you please tell me what I should ask?

This fault happened druing Precharge Current Regulation Phase or Fastcharge Current Regulation Phase.

System specification

- ISET: 500mA

- OVPSET: 2.2V~7V

- ACSET: 1.5A

Hi Yamamoto-san,

When STAT blinks, it means there is fault condition in the circuit. You can check if there is Input overvoltage, or Battery overvoltage, or timer fault, battery undervoltage (absent) etc.

Hi Yamamoto-san,

When charger keeps running longer than what is set up by TTC pin, fast charge timer or precharge timer fault will be triggered. Please refer to DS section 9.3.5 on page 17-18.
