LM340: Temperature spec.: LM340T-12/NOPB vs LM7812CT/NOPB

Part Number: LM340

In the LM340/LM7812 datasheet (https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm340.pdf), the package option addendum has an operating temperature spec. of -40°C to +125°C for the LM7812CT/NOPB, but there is no temperature spec. given for the LM340T-12/NOPB.

Can anybody confirm what the operating temperature spec. is for the LM340T-12/NOPB (noting that for LM340T-12 it is 0°C to 70°C)?

  • Hi,

Thank you for sharing this information with us.

By looking at the package option addendum and the Electrical Characteristics table 6.7 for LM340/LM7812 it has a Tj range of 0°C ≤ TJ ≤ 125°C, unless otherwise specified:

From all this, one could assume that it is 0 to 125 for the LM340T-12/NOPB as well.

This is an old device that was also inherited from National Semiconductor, but let me take a deeper look into why the LM7812CT/NOPB has a -40 to 125 Op Temp.

    Best,

    Edgar Acosta
