LM63615-Q1: Input capacitance

Hi team,

I have a question about input capactiance for LM63615-Q1.

Vout=5V, Iload max =400mA. Vin=car battery

It is recommended to place at least 4.7uF as Cin in the datasheet.

Is it possible to minimize it to 1uF if I have bulk input cap(electrolytic) in additon to 1uF MLCC?

I plan to use 300uF electrolytic cap on input.

HI Shinji

I would recommend you place a 0.1uF or 0.22uF cap close to the Vin pin and GND.

Can you share why you need 300uF cap on the input side?

Hi Gui-san,

Actually I have put 0.22uF in parallel with 1.0uF MLCC.

I would like to know if this 1uF MLCC needs to be 4.7uF or higher?

300uF is input filter placed on the other side of ferrite bead(0.1uH) from LM63615 input.

I would recommend keeping the 4.7uF Cap.
