PTH08T240F: output state when current between 10A to 20A

Hi Team,

My customer has a query on the datasheet of pth08t240f.

ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS

1.Output current 0-10A,
2.Overcurrent threshold 20A

What kind of output will become when the output state is continuous on 10A~20A ?
For example, the voltage becomes low.
or the output current decreases.
or repeat one of status, etc.

In short, I want to confirm that the IC's action and output state are between the recommended maximum current and current threshold.
I can not find this info in the datasheet.

    From your description above, the device is over current protection mode. This behavior should not be at 10A IOUT.

    But the Overcurrent threshold is 20A, for example, if the current is 15A.

    is it trigger overcurrent protection?

    Max IO recommended for the part is 10A.  

    The inductor is  1.3uH 15A. with 350KHz Fsw the peak inductor current ripple can be higher than 15A and thus the inductor saturate and with it the inductance drops even further. with lower inductance, the ILpp increases until the current limit is hit. it is not recommended to use the device above 10A, as the current limit is protection feature only. 

    You can add a loop in to the inductor and measure the inductor current to confirm this

    Answer: In the ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS table in the datasheet lists the min and max IOUT the device can support

    I have a few more questions. Can you answer them?
    The inductor you mentioned is inductor as load or internal inductor in the module.

    Answer: The inductor of the module (internal Inductor of the module)

    Answer: The inductor is rate for max DC of 16A. 

    >with lower inductance, the ILpp increases until the current limit is hit.


    → Does it mean that the inductance is lowered When test connected to the inductor as load.

    Answer: Yes, there is derating of the inductor as the load increases. Also, there a voltage and temperature rerating. With 40C increase, you will see about ~25% typical derating on the inductance of the inductor. and the min 0VDC bias is1uH

    Is the ILpp and IO output current the same?

    Answer: NO, please see some

    What current value of current limit?

    Answer: 20A max

    Can you please help me understand what are trying to achieve?  are you trying to operate the device at 15A? that is not recommended. Ar you having issue with the device running at 10A?
