Can TLC59581 be used with an external BJT / MOSFET for higher power?

I would like each channel to power 6V 150mA or 3V 750mA LEDs.

I'm new at this, so any example circuits or advice would be helpful.

This is for a mock window. It consists of boards which each contain a 6x8 array of (bi-color) white LEDs, coming to about 50W each.

Are the LEDs for illumination use? How will you control the LEDs, as a group or individually?

Yes, for illumination. I would like to control them individually, if it's cost-effective.

Hi Devin,

In such a case the TLC59581 would be rather out of spec. But you may still do that with an external BJT / MOSFET for higher power.
Another solution is TLC59116 / TLC59108, which can support up to 120 mA output per channel. You can try paralleling several channels together to produce larger current.
Other solutions include TPS92633, which can support 150 mA output per channel.

No problem. I'll try to make the TLC59581 work. Getting 48 channels of 700mA out of those others would require quite a few chips.
