TPS65220: AM335x with TPS65220 PMIC

Part Number: TPS65220
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65218D0, TPS650250, TPS65910, USB2ANY

Hi,

I am designing AM335x Embedded System. I would like to use TPS65220 to power up AM335x.

Can I replace TPS650250/TPS65910/TPS65218D0 with TPS65220 ?

Is there any reference design for TPS65220 with AM335x ?

Thanks & Regards,

Nikhil

  • Hi Nikhil,

Thank You for using E2E! We currently don't have any TPS65220 variant pre-programmed to power the AM335x. However, as part of the TPS65220 PMIC family, we have the PTPS6522005 which is the user programmable version that comes with all the rails disabled by default so customers can re-program the PMIC before executing the power-up sequence. Re-programming the PMIC requires an external 3.3V supply and an external I2C master (i.e. USB2ANY) to communicate with the PMIC through I2C.

If you would like, we can provide the programming instructions and you can program the PMIC in your production line or work with a 3rd party for programming services. Please let us know if you are interested

    Thanks,

  • Hi Brenda Diaz Cruz,

Can you share Programming instruction document so that i can go through it before selecting  TPS6522005 IC also any interface schematic document will be helpful.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Nikhil Muley

  • Hi,

We are currently working on the official programming guide which will be released to ti.com. In the meantime, I have attached preliminary information with the programming steps. Please note this device has not been released yet so all the information provided is preliminary and subject to change without notice. However, we do not anticipate any changes. Once the device is released, all customers should refer to the online programming guide located on product folder at ti.com.

Let us know if there are any questions.
