BQ27421-G1: vs BQ27427, pre-programming features

Part Number: BQ27421-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27427, BQ27426

Hi team,

My customer is looking for gauge IC that can be used with minimum firmware development. The battery is 4.2V, Li-Ion, Typ 0.45A to Max 0.9A.

They found BQ27421-G1 and BQ27427 as possible candidates. And I’d like to confirm difference regarding their pre-programming features.

As BQ27427 datasheet states, it has pre-programmed chemistry profiles. So the user can select chemistry profiles, which is Chem ID, via software like BQ27426, right? There is no TRM for BQ27427 available yet so I’d like to confirm.

And for BQ27421-G1, it also has pre-programmed chemistry profiles, but that cannot be selected via software. It is already defined, and the last letter of the part number indicates which chemistry profile it has, right? (e.g. BQ27421-G1A is for 4.2-V maximum charge voltage) So from programming perspective, will BQ27421-G1A be easier to be used?

Best regards,

Kurumi
