TPS2121EVM-023: TPS2121EVM J16 Question

Part Number: TPS2121EVM-023

Hi, I want to use the part to switch between 2 inputs to the output (to my power distribution.)

Normally only one input will be present, but my concern is what if both are used?

I have the EVM but J16 would be a short so I question this.

I will attach my circuit and picture of demo board for verification.

Can you have a look then I will get (2) 15V_4A supplies as inputs to One Output to test.

Patrick

  • Hello Patrick,

Having both inputs present is the point of the device. it will work whether there is only one valid input, or two.

J16 is used to connect loads to the board. you should not short it.

This section of your schematic concerns me if its not connected to GND. Just wanted to confirm this was GND and its fine if it is.

You're operating based on VCOMP mode and aren't utilizing OV protection or the ST pin, but thats fine if you don't care about these features. You also won't be utilizing fast switch over (5uS switchover time) since CP2 < Vref.

  • Yes, GND got cutoff at the line. I have clamp Zener for OV. Just a diode OR setup but smaller. OK will test EVAL board - Thanks, Patrick
