UCC24624: Application

Part Number: UCC24624
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27324, , UCC21222-Q1

Hi team,

Just I wanted to know that I am using active bridge rectifier in my design for 2.2KW PFC Boost power supply.

Can you suggest me the following parts can we replace with TI parts.

IR11688S to UCC24624DT and 2EDF7275F to UCC27324 with two numbers.

(This is Infineon design)

In my design I have used Onsemi parts.

NCP4318ALCDR2G to UCC24624DT and FAN7362MX to UCC27324.

Can you suggest me the following parts can we replace with TI parts.

(This is my design)

Please provides your feedback and suggestions.

Regards,

Raj Kumar

  • Hi Raj,

For the SR controller, the UCC24624 is a good cross. here is a quick datasheet comparison between the two:

    Parameter IR11688S UCC24624 Units Comments
    VDD 200 230 V
VCC 4.75-18 4.25-26 V The UCC24624 can support a wider output range without additional circuitry
Max Frequency 400 625 kHz The UCC24624 can support a higher resonant frequency
Operating Current 13 1 mA The UCC24624 has lower operation power
    Auto Low-power mode
    Gate Drive Source/Sink 1/4 1.5/4 A

For the gate driver, I will have to find someone for the gate drivers team to comment on the UCC27324.

  • Hi JCHK,

    Thanks for the confirmation.

  • Hello JCHK,

Our expert on the gate drivers team is out of office at the moment. He should respond to your questions within the next day.

  • Hi Richard,

Please provides TI compatible part for 2EDF7275FXUMA1.

Gate driver sourcing & Sinking capability more than or equal to 4A.

  • Hi Raj kumar Chaurasiya,

Do you want a cross for that part and the FAN one you mentioned earlier? For this device, the best option seems to be UCC21220A. This device is a dual-channel isolated driver. The UCC27324 is a dual channel non-isolated driver. People do use our UCC27x24 family for boost PFC and SR purposes, but I don't know enough about your system to say if you could use isolated/non-isolated here.

As for the FAN part, that is a high-side driver. We do not currently have a good cross for that one. The closest thing we have is UCC27714, but it is a half-bridge driver so the LO will be wasted. I think the dual-channel isolated driver will work better. It is always possible to use our lowside drivers as high side ones like shown by changing the ground reference, you would just need to level shift the inputs also for it to work.

Please let me know if you have any questions about these suggestions.

    Thanks,

    Alex M.

  • Hi Alex,

    Thanks for sharing.

Can you please compare with the 2EDF7275FXUMA1.

We need two independent channel Half Bridge drive or we can also use single channel high side driver which meet the gate source and sink current capability.

In figure one you can see Infineon used 2EDF7275FXUMA1.

Can we use UCC21222-Q1 instead of the 2EDF7275FXUMA1.

    Thanks & Regards

    Raj Kumar Chaurasiya

  • Hi Raj Kumar Chaurasiya,

We don't have any single channel high side drivers. I think the UCC2122x will be a good choice for the isolated option. However, I am more knowledgeable on our non-isolated drivers. I will hand the thread to the expert for this device for further recommendations.

    Thanks,

    Alex M.

  • Hi, Raj,

The UCC21222-Q1 is a close match for the 2EDF7275FXUMA1. It has the additional functionality of dead-time control.  You can configure it as two high-side drivers, or two low-side drivers, or a half-bridge driver.

Let me know if you have any questions on the UCC21222-Q1.

    Best regards,

    Don

  • Hi Don,

Thank you for suggesting this part.
