BQ27421-G1: How to program my configuration

Hi, I am trying to configure BQ27421. Does the configuration process program the RAM or ROM/flash? Does this part have only ROM? or flash? If it has flash which stores the default values, how can it be programmed?

Hello Ben,

BQ27421-G1 does not have flash. It has ROM and RAM.

The Host MCU has to write Design Capacity, Design Energy, Terminate Voltage, and Taper Rate in addition to updating full and empty battery conditions to match the system requirements, after every POR.

Hi Shirish,

I Have looked over the app note. But the linux sample code does only simple read/write to the gauge IC. Nothing about configuring the IC. Could you please point me to more specific code doing the configuration?

Hello Ben,

You can generate a Flashstream(GMFS) file from bqStudio GoldenIamge tab. This file is a sequence of I2C commands. The Linux code for read write is sufficient to use this file. The file contains all data memory. You can refer the TRM and find the ones of interest to you to reduce the total time.
