BQ27421-G1: How the gauge react to a battery removal/reconnect event?

Part Number: BQ27421-G1

If the fuel gauge is powered by the battery and loses power upon battery removal, what does it thinks happened after battery insertion?

That a new battery is inserted or that it just got reset and it should continue as if no battery removal/insertion occurred?

  • Hello,

If the battery is re-inserted, the gauge will do a POR - power on reset, just like a normal reset. It will not think it is a new battery.

However, the gauge will copy the ROM-based configuration defaults to RAM, so user will need to save the data flash parameters in MCU side to load DF parameters after POR.
