TPS65218D0: DCDC4 ILIMIT MIN value MAX value

Part Number: TPS65218D0

Hello,

I am an FAE for a distributor that handles TI products.
I received a question from a customer about the TPS65218D0.
(question)
Do you have information on the MIN and MAX values of ILIMIT for DCDC4?
On the board made by the customer, the inrush current of DCDC4 is about 2.5A, so I would like to check if the overcurrent protection works.

Best regards,

  • I have an additional question.

    (Question 2)
Where is DCDC4 current detection inside the device?
Since it is a buck-boost, which FET is used for detection?
    (Question 3)
Current detection of DCDC4 seems to detect the average current.
How long will it take to respond once the limit is reached?

    Best regards,

  • Hi Kaji,

I will get back to you on this tomorrow.

    Regards,

    James

  • Hi Kaji,

    1) We don't have additional information on the MIN/MAX for this spec. The values in the datasheet are the extent of our released information at this time.

    2) The DCDC4 current detection is handled locally, inside the DCDC4 block of the functional diagram (Section 5.2 of the datasheet). At the moment I don't have additional details beyond what is in the datasheet.

    3) Most of the protective detection occurs in a matter of milliseconds but I cannot specify a spec value for the ILIMIT timing. All the information in the datasheet should allow for proper device implementation. Further testing beyond the publicly provided information will have to be conducted externally.

    Regards,

    James
